Effective techniques for managing Anxiety and Stress

The trouble with constant Anxiety is that it can lead to other debilitating conditions such as Stress and Depression if left untreated. What can start off as a mild attack of anxiety can sometimes lead to another and another and all to often the sufferer comes to expect all manner of terrible things happening to them. It becomes normal for the  feeling of anxiety  to become  a constant  unwanted companion. Kind of like a guest who has outstayed her welcome and has gotten too comfortable and wants to stay put with her feet under the table.

So what can you do to get rid of this unwanted tiresome guest?. Well a lot of people go down the medication route, tranquillisers  , sleeping tablets and frequently alcohol in a bid to get some peace and quiet in their own minds. At best these will serve as a temporary distraction and will only have short lived effects and they have to keep topping up the meds to recreate the  peace and quiet in their own minds that they crave.

Now you might ask yourself “how do I personally as a therapist  know what its like to experience crushing and defeating Anxiety on a daily basis, what would I know about it?”. Well the answer to that is that I have in the past had anxiety issues for a long long time as part of my life. It became the norm for me because I lived that way for so long, depending  on medication to numb the feeling in my brain that drove me to distraction. That feeling of being under constant threat from something or someone unknown.

Because  I have experienced both Anxiety and Stress for a big part of my life and have gotten through to the other side, I’m now in a unique position to show others how to conquer it. I have gained huge insights as to why some people sail through life and why some people always feel like its a struggle.
